All rental properties in Washington D.C. are required by law to maintain a Basic Business License (BBL). For the safety of our students and integrity of our listings, American University requires all listings to provide proof of a BBL prior to being approved. We require that properties in Maryland and Virginia also submit a BBL or their county equivalent, demonstrating that they are legally able to rent their property. Please upload your BBL by going to the "Specifics" tab and then clicking the "Choose File" link under "BBL Upload." Once uploaded and received, your listing will be approved in 1 to 3 business days.
